LOCATION TEMPTATION / RAVELLO, ITALY

If you aren’t familiar, we would love to introduce Ravello, a charming village on the hilltops of Amalfi Coast. It has been named the ‘city of music’ and is known for its jaw-dropping views and ornate garden villas. This enchanting mountaintop town is located on Italy’s most beautiful coastline, and its views have captivated countless souls, inspired famous actors, authors, composers, and artists for centuries.

Ravello is located in the province of Salerno, in the province of Campania, South Italy at 365 meters above sea level. When we visit, we take advantage of the views and head to the Cimbrone Gardens. Its origins date back to the 11th century, but the villa and the gardens were extensively renovated by a British nobleman, Lord Grimthorpe, in the early 20th century. At more than 1200 feet (~365 meters) above the Mediterranean, the villa’s belvedere, Terrazza dell’Infinito (Terrace of Infinity), is lined by a series of marble busts that on clear days sparkle against the blue sky above and the azure waters below.

Another one of our day trips is a guided hike down towards Scala and Amalfi to visit the ruins of Sant. Eustachio and guided tour of the Ferriere Valley. The ruins date back to the 13th century when the Basilica was one of the most beautiful in Southern Italy. Although in ruins, it is one of the truest examples of the unique architectural style that existed in Amalfi during the Middle Ages.

The Valle delle Ferriere is a nature reserve located along the Amalfi side of the coast. Walking through the woods and in the valley reserve, you will discover the paths of the real Amalfi, a historical Amalfi that was a maritime republic like Venice, Genoa and Pisa.

Of course, no visit to Ravello would be complete without a perspective from the sea! We spend a day taking a private boat along the coast to get take in the unparalleled views of Positano, Praiano, and the beautiful coves and hillsides that line the coast.

We hope you join us at this magical location to soak up a quieter, more intimate and authentic town along the Amalfi Coast!
