PROJECT SOAR / AN UPDATE AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE

We wanted to do this post to update you on the recovery efforts in the wake of the recent earthquake in Morocco and how you might be able to help out. Many of you know that PROJECT SOAR is our partner in Marrakesh and part of our GIVE BACK initiative where 10% of profits are pledged to non-profits that help our global neighbors. Project Soar uplifts underprivileged communities through art, design and movement. Cultural constraints sometimes allow girls fewer opportunities, so Project Soar empowers girls to grow strong, smart and creative. They also bring beauty to communities through art, rehabilitation and cleanup projects, helping them thrive for years to come.

On September 8 a powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Morocco, causing a devastating loss of 2000+ lives and significant damage to infrastructures. It is essential to remember that menstruation does not stop during natural disasters, reason why Project Soar has decided to focus every effort on the collection and distribution of menstrual products, diapers & other first aid essential needs to women and girls living in the badly affected villages of the High Atlas region.

Women and girls are extremely impacted by natural disasters as basic needs such as menstrual products are often forgotten. Needs change and evolve day after day in natural disasters like earthquakes, but menstruation does not stop and menstrual products are constantly needed items both in the short and long term.

We were so thankful when we heard from PEACOCK PAVILLIONS that they were all safe and there had been no damage to their property. They asked to put out the word that Marrakesh is up and running and ready for tourist and to please come visit, as tourism is the mainstay of their economy. Consider joining us in MARCH as we know this will be a special retreat with extra heart!
