THE RETREAT

MOVE. EXPLORE. DISCOVER.

We believe travel can be its own kind of practice.

A chance to step outside your normal routines. To see things differently. To learn something new. To meet people who see the world differently than you do.

Our Movement + Magic week brings together the things Eat Pray Move loves most:

Yoga + wellness + culture + food + adventure + beautiful places.

Each day offers something different.

We might begin with an energizing yoga practice and meditation, then head into Marrakesh to explore the Medina and its souks.

Another day we'll leave the city behind for the desert, riding camels and enjoying a leisurely tasting lunch at a luxury camp.

We'll visit the extraordinary Jardin Majorelle and YSL Museum, learn about Moroccan folklore and symbolism, have our cards read, celebrate with a henna party, enjoy a traditional hammam, and share dinners with Moroccan music and entertainment.

And in between it all?

Pool time. Mint tea. Massages. Long lunches. Time to wander. Time to do absolutely nothing.

THE MAGIC OF MOROCCO

SYMBOLS, STORIES + TRADITION

Morocco is filled with layers of meaning.

Patterns, colors, architecture, rituals, objects, and symbols all carry stories — some ancient, some spiritual, some simply beautiful.

Throughout the week we'll have opportunities to learn more about the folklore and symbolism of Moroccan culture, giving you a deeper lens through which to experience what you're seeing around you.

And we'll have some fun with it, too.

PERSONAL CARD READINGS

Our retreat leader, Amy Commander, is an experienced intuitive, oracle and tarot reader, as well as a yoga teacher, Reiki healer, astrologer, and holistic nutrition counselor.

During the retreat, you'll have the opportunity for a personalized card reading — a playful and reflective way to explore what might be asking for your attention right now.

No experience with tarot or astrology necessary.

Just bring an open mind.

THE ADVENTURES

MARRAKESH, IN ALL ITS FORMS

THE MEDINA + SOUKS

One of the great pleasures of Marrakesh is simply getting lost.

We'll spend a day exploring the Medina with a local guide, discovering the souks, artisans, architecture, courtyards, colors, and extraordinary details that make this city unlike anywhere else.

You'll have time to shop, wander, photograph, taste, and take it all in.

And yes — leave some room in your suitcase.

INTO THE DESERT

We'll escape the city for a day in the Moroccan desert.

Ride camels across the dunes, settle into a beautiful luxury Berber camp, and enjoy a multi-course tasting lunch surrounded by the landscape.

It's one of those days that feels a little surreal.

Exactly as it should.

JARDIN MAJORELLE + YSL MUSEUM

Explore the iconic Jardin Majorelle, one of Marrakesh's most recognizable gardens, followed by a visit to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum.

A beautiful meeting point between Moroccan color, design, fashion, art, and botanical history.

THE HAMMAM

After all that exploring, you'll have earned some serious relaxation.

We'll spend an afternoon at a luxurious traditional Moroccan hammam, with a full program of spa treatments.

Warmth, water, steam, ritual, and the simple pleasure of letting someone else take care of you.

HENNA + MOROCCAN CELEBRATION

We'll gather for a Moroccan henna party — an evening of beauty, tradition, music, cocktails, and celebration.

And because this is Eat Pray Move, expect it to be a little more fabulous than your average group activity.

YOUR HOME IN MARRAKESH

PEACOCK PAVILIONS

Our home for the week is Peacock Pavilions, a spectacular boutique property just outside the city.

Spread across 8.5 acres, including five acres of olive groves, this intimate estate feels like a private Moroccan fantasy.

It is filled with art, textiles, architectural details, gardens, terraces, and beautifully designed spaces — the kind of place where you'll find yourself wanting to photograph every corner.

Your room includes:

A private bathroom • fireplace • private terrace • beautiful Moroccan furnishings

There is also a pool, outdoor spaces, a covered yoga platform, and plenty of places to settle in with a book or a glass of Moroccan tea.

The property is both luxurious and wonderfully personal.

It's not a large resort.

It's a place with character.

And with only 12 guests, it becomes our little world for the week.

FOOD + THE MOROCCAN TABLE

EAT WELL

Food is a huge part of the Eat Pray Move experience, and Morocco is one of our favorite places to eat.

Meals throughout the retreat will celebrate the flavors of Moroccan cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients — many sourced from the property's organic gardens or local markets.

Think:

Warm Moroccan bread • stuffed dates • almond couscous • vegetable tagines • fresh salads • avocado dip • mint tea • pomegranate • rose water • beautiful shared meals

Most meals are vegetarian, in keeping with the yogic tradition that has guided Eat Pray Move since we began.

Breakfast is more flexible, with options for different dietary preferences, and there will be free time during the week when you can explore the local food scene on your own.

GIVE BACK

TRAVEL WITH PURPOSE

Travel is more meaningful when it gives something back to the places we visit.

Through the Eat Pray Move Give Back initiative, we donate a percentage of retreat profits to various humanitarian partners around the globe.

Our Marrakesh partner is Project Soar, which works with underserved communities and young women through creative, educational, and community-focused projects.

So while you're having an extraordinary week, your trip is also contributing to something beyond yourself.

YOGA + WELLNESS

MOVE YOUR BODY. QUIET YOUR MIND.

Yoga is at the heart of every Eat Pray Move retreat, but our practices are designed to complement the travel experience — not compete with it.

We'll practice every day, with classes ranging from:

Vinyasa flow • restorative yoga • meditation • somatic movement • gentle practices • more vigorous flows

Classes are suitable for all levels, from beginners through experienced practitioners.

The intimate group size means there is room for personal attention and for each practice to adapt to the people in the room.

Some mornings may energize you.

Some evenings may bring you down to stillness.

And some days, the best practice may simply be walking through the souks and taking in everything around you.

OUR FACILITATOR

AMY COMMANDER

Amy found yoga in 2003 after a knee injury from long distance running. Following the advice of a friend, she started taking classes in an effort to help get her knee healthy enough to continue running in marathons and racing. It did not take long for her to realize that yoga was a much healthier and more sustainable form of mental and spiritual exercise, eventually leaving running behind in favor of yoga. In 2008, Amy opened her first yoga studio that she successfully ran for over twelve years. In addition to being a studio owner and having over 14 years experience actively teaching, Amy is an accomplished intuitive. Having completed her advanced training with Astrologer Debra Silverman, Amy enjoys providing in-depth astrology readings to support members in their healing journey. She is also a certified master Reiki healer, an oracle/tarot reader, and certified holistic nutrition counselor. After losing one of her closest friends to cancer in 2020, Amy went back to school for nutrition, successfully graduating from IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition). Amy has since started a new business, Yogi Bites, offering nutrition services of all kinds, including home baked goods. She is the owner of “The Studio”, in St Augustine Florida.

COME WITH AN OPEN HEART

This is not a retreat about checking things off a list.

It's about giving yourself enough space to experience something.

To breathe.

To move.

To wander.

To be surprised.

To laugh around a table with people you just met.

To watch the sun rise over the Atlas Mountains.

To sit around a fire.

To let someone else take care of you for a few days.

And perhaps to return home feeling a little more connected to yourself than when you left.

Marrakesh has a way of doing that.
