OVERVIEW

LUXURY WELLNESS + SPIRITUAL JOURNEY THROUGH THE HEART OF ANCIENT EGYPT

Experience Egypt in a way few travelers ever do—through a thoughtfully curated journey that combines luxury, wellness, culture, and one of the world's most iconic waterways. This intimate retreat begins aboard an extraordinary new “Dahabiya” - an exclusive buyout of a boutique sized Nile cruise, where we'll spend four unforgettable nights sailing from Aswan to Luxor, before ending with two magical nights at one of Luxor’s premier luxury boutique hotels on the enchanting west bank.

As we drift along the Nile, life naturally slows to the rhythm of the river. Mornings begin with yoga and meditation overlooking the water, followed by visits to some of Egypt's most breathtaking ancient temples, hidden treasures, and vibrant local communities. Evenings invite us to gather for incredible meals, meaningful conversation, and spectacular sunsets from the deck (or pool!) of our private floating sanctuary.

The final chapter of our journey unfolds in Luxor, where we'll settle into the timeless beauty of Al Moudira—a boutique oasis unlike anywhere else in Egypt. From here, we'll experience one of the most unforgettable moments of the retreat: a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Valley of the Kings, watching the first light illuminate the temples, tombs, and desert landscapes that have captivated travelers for centuries.

This retreat is designed to offer the perfect balance of exploration and restoration. Our wellness classes—held both onboard the cruise and in inspiring locations throughout the journey—are thoughtfully woven into the itinerary, creating space to move, breathe, reconnect, and fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Whether you're standing before monumental temples, sailing through quiet stretches of the Nile, floating silently above Luxor at dawn, or simply enjoying the stillness of a morning practice, this is a journey that invites you to slow down, be present, and experience Egypt with fresh eyes.

ACCOMMODATION

TWO PLACES. TWO PERSPECTIVES. ONE EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY.

One of the most special things about this retreat is that our home changes with the landscape.

Rather than staying in one place, we’ll experience Egypt in two completely different ways: four nights drifting slowly along the Nile aboard our private Dahabiya, followed by two nights at the extraordinary Al Moudira Hotel on Luxor’s West Bank.

LIFE ON THE NILE

For four nights, the river is our home.

Our intimate private Dahabiya is a beautiful take on traditional Nile sailing, combining the romance of slow travel with thoughtful luxury. With elegant suites, beautiful communal spaces, exceptional dining, and open-air decks made for watching the world go by, there is nowhere better to experience Egypt at its most timeless.

We’ll travel from Aswan toward Luxor at an unhurried pace, waking each morning to a different view of the Nile. There will be yoga on deck, ancient temples to explore, villages and landscapes along the river, long meals, sunset gatherings, and plenty of time simply to watch Egypt unfold around us.

There is something deeply restorative about traveling this way. No rushing between destinations. No packing and unpacking every night. Just the rhythm of the river, the changing light, and the feeling of being carried through thousands of years of history.

The journey becomes part of the destination.

AL MOUDIRA, LUXOR

Our final two nights bring us to another world.

Tucked away on the peaceful West Bank of Luxor, Al Moudira is one of Egypt’s most distinctive boutique hotels—a romantic oasis of gardens, courtyards, arches, handcrafted details, and beautifully collected interiors.

It feels less like a conventional hotel and more like a private palace discovered in the desert. After four days on the river, it gives us a place to slow down even further: long meals, quiet gardens, beautiful surroundings, and the chance to simply enjoy being somewhere extraordinary.

And we’re perfectly positioned to explore the treasures of ancient Luxor.

One morning, we’ll rise before dawn for one of the most unforgettable experiences of the retreat: a hot-air balloon flight over the Valley of the Kings. As the sun rises over the desert, temples, tombs, and the Nile below slowly emerge from the morning light.

It’s a fitting final chapter to our journey.

Four nights following the ancient rhythm of the Nile. Two nights surrounded by the timeless beauty of Luxor. And an experience that allows us to discover Egypt not simply by visiting it, but by slowing down enough to truly feel it.

From river to desert, from ancient temples to hidden gardens, this is Egypt experienced at its most magical.

CUISINE

THE FLAVORS OF THE NILE

Food is an essential part of how we experience Egypt—and throughout this retreat, meals are designed to be as memorable as the places we visit.

Most meals are included, from leisurely breakfasts and relaxed lunches to beautiful dinners shared as the sun sets over the Nile. While our meals follow a healthful, primarily vegetarian approach rooted in the yogic tradition, the food is anything but restrictive. Instead, we’ll discover the incredible variety of Egyptian ingredients, spices, grains, vegetables, herbs, and traditional flavors, thoughtfully prepared by talented chefs.

Aboard our private Dahabiya, dining becomes part of the journey itself. Imagine breakfast as the river comes to life, lunch with the Nile slowly passing by, and dinner beneath an open sky as the landscape turns golden and the boat drifts quietly downstream.

The cuisine draws inspiration from Egypt’s rich culinary heritage while incorporating international influences and fresh, seasonal ingredients. Traditional recipes are given a contemporary touch, with an emphasis on freshness, balance, and beautiful presentation. And with the Nile unfolding around us, there may be no more beautiful dining room in the world.

In Luxor, the experience changes again. At Al Moudira, meals are served across the hotel’s beautiful restaurants and courtyards, with ingredients grown in the property’s sustainable garden and prepared by an exceptional culinary team. After days spent exploring temples, tombs, and the Valley of the Kings, we’ll return to a place where dinner can be slow, elegant, and wonderfully unhurried.

In keeping with the yogic tradition at Eat Pray Move, the majority of our retreat meals are vegetarian. It’s a choice that reflects both the lineage of our practice and our desire to travel thoughtfully and leave a lighter footprint wherever we go.

We know that not everyone is vegetarian, and we simply ask that guests come with an open mind and a willingness to experience food in a different way for the week. Breakfast remains an open menu, with options for a variety of diets, including meat and fish, and select meals will include seafood.

Special dietary requirements and allergies can always be communicated in advance so that we can make your experience as delicious and comfortable as possible.

From the flavors of ancient Egypt to meals shared beneath the stars, food is another way we’ll slow down, connect, and experience the magic of the Nile.

WELLNESS

MOVE. BREATHE. CONNECT.

On this retreat, wellness is about much more than what happens on the yoga mat.

Each day offers space to move, breathe, reflect, and reconnect—with yourself, with the people around you, and with the extraordinary landscape of Egypt. Morning and evening practices will be woven naturally into our days on the Nile and in Luxor, giving you moments to pause and come back to yourself between adventures.

Classes are open to every level and will move between energizing Vinyasa Flow, gentler and restorative practices, and deeply restful sessions depending on the needs of the group. Meditation may take the form of Yoga Nidra, guided meditation, walking meditation, or simply a few quiet moments of awareness as we take in our surroundings.

With a small, intimate group, practices can be adapted to the people in the room. Whether you have been practicing for years or are stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time, there is space to explore at your own pace.

But the real practice begins when we leave the mat.

Yoga is ultimately about connection—and that is at the heart of this journey. Connection to a new culture. Connection to other people. Connection to your own senses and intuition. We’ll use travel itself as a mindfulness practice: noticing the changing light across the Nile, listening to the sounds of a temple, feeling the breeze from the river, sharing a meal, walking through ancient places, or simply allowing yourself to be fully present.

We’ll also make space for creativity and reflection through journaling, using the experience of Egypt as an invitation to slow down, notice, and see things differently.

Come without expectations. Come curious. Come ready to move, explore, and be surprised.

The mat is only one part of the practice. The whole journey is an opportunity to connect.

TRAVEL DETAILS

Our retreat begins in Aswan in the morning, where we'll enjoy our opening circle and breakfast at a very special location before a temple visit and then a welcome lunch as we board the beautiful Nile Cruise before setting sail that afternoon. Flights to Aswan arrive in the morning from Cairo and your arrival transfer from the airport is included.

Most international travelers will first arrive in Cairo or Giza and either spend a night exploring before taking a short domestic flight to Aswan on the morning of the retreat. There are multiple daily flights between Cairo and Aswan, making the connection straight forward and convenient.

Our retreat concludes in Luxor, where we'll spend our final two nights at Al Moudira Hotel. After breakfast on the last day, you'll be transferred to Luxor International Airport for your onward flight. Most guests choose to fly from Luxor back to Cairo before connecting with their international departure, although additional travel within Egypt can easily be arranged if you'd like to continue your adventure.

Getting There

  • Arrival Airport: Aswan International Airport (ASW)

  • Recommended Arrival: Morning of Day 1 (or arrive the evening before if you prefer a more relaxed start. We can help you secure a room at the location of our welcome morning activity)

  • Departure Airport: Luxor International Airport (LXR)

  • Recommended Departure: Afternoon or evening flight on the final day, allowing time for hotel breakfast and airport transfer

We'll provide detailed arrival instructions, recommended flight times, and transfer information well in advance of the retreat to make planning as seamless as possible. We can recommend a travel agent in Egypt who are also happy to assist with domestic flight recommendations and pre- or post-retreat travel throughout Egypt.

COME WITH AN OPEN HEART

This is not a retreat about checking things off a list.

It’s about giving yourself enough space to truly experience Egypt.

To wake with the Nile outside your window.
To move and breathe as the river slowly carries you downstream.
To wander through ancient temples and quiet villages.
To stand beneath monuments built thousands of years ago and feel the weight of time.
To watch the light change across the desert.
To share long meals with people who were strangers just days before.
To pause. To wonder. To be completely present.

To let someone else take care of you for a few days.

And perhaps, somewhere between the ancient stones, the river, the sunsets, the laughter, and the stillness, to return home feeling a little more connected to yourself—and a little more open to the world around you.

Egypt has a way of reminding you that there is so much more to life than the everyday.
