OVERVIEW

CEREMONY + CULTURE + SELF-CARE

We’re returning to one of our favorite places on earth for a retreat that invites you to experience Bali through all five elements — Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether.

This is a week designed to restore the whole self.

Our days will weave together daily yoga and meditation, beautiful spa experiences, Balinese ceremonies, incredible food, and immersive cultural adventures — creating a rhythm that balances movement with stillness, exploration with rest, and discovery with deep self-care.

Each day, we'll connect with a different element through a special experience rooted in Balinese culture and tradition.

EARTH

Nourish + Ground

Explore a beautiful organic garden before joining a private cooking experience with a head chef, discovering the ingredients, flavors, and traditions that make Balinese food so special.

WATER

Flow + Restore

Travel along Bali's eastern coast in a traditional jukung boat to a secluded beach, where we'll swim, relax, and enjoy a beautiful lunch by the sea.

FIRE

Transform + Celebrate

Experience a traditional Balinese fire ceremony led by a Balinese priest, followed by a delicious tasting meal — an evening of ritual, connection, and celebration.

AIR

Breathe + Connect

Rise into the cool morning air for a guided walk through Bali's iconic rice paddies, surrounded by lush green landscapes and the sounds of the countryside.

ETHER

Listen + Receive

We'll close our journey with a special sound ceremony designed to quiet the mind and restore the body, followed by a traditional Balinese Melekut blessing — a beautiful ritual of purification and renewal.

Alongside these elemental experiences, there will be plenty of time to practice, receive, explore, swim, rest, and simply be.

This is Bali as we love it most: deeply cultural, beautifully immersive, and designed to nourish you from the inside out.

ACCOMMODATION

TWO SIDES OF BALI

We've designed this retreat around two very different sides of Bali — beginning beside the sea and ending in the lush green heart of the island.

For the first half of the week, we'll settle into a peaceful oceanfront retreat on Bali's east coast, far from the crowds and surrounded by coconut groves beneath the sacred slopes of Mount Agung.

This is our chance to slow down.

Wake to the sound of the ocean, practice yoga with the sea nearby, swim, enjoy a treatment, and let the rhythm of island life take over.

Our hosts are an award-winning boutique hotel family known for beautifully designed properties that feel luxurious without ever feeling formal or overdone.

Midway through the week, we'll trade the coast for the mountains and head inland to Ubud.

Our second home is a tranquil hillside retreat perched above the lush Ayung River valley, in the traditional Balinese village of Payangan. Surrounded by tropical forest and rice fields, this is Bali at its most serene — a place designed for slowing down, reconnecting, and simply taking in the extraordinary landscape.

Both properties combine exceptional design with a deep sense of place, including one of the world's acclaimed Top 50 Pools.

Two beautiful settings.

Two very different sides of Bali.

One unforgettable week.

CUISINE

THE FLAVORS OF BALI

Food is one of the best ways to experience a place, and Bali gives us plenty to discover.

Throughout the retreat, we'll enjoy fresh, vibrant Balinese and Indonesian cuisine, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included each day. Some meals will be enjoyed at our hotels, others in beautiful local restaurants, and occasionally we'll eat the way the Balinese have for generations — from dishes served simply on a banana leaf.

The cooking is fresh, colorful, fragrant, and deeply connected to the island, drawing on ingredients from local markets, gardens, rice fields, and the surrounding landscape.

FROM GARDEN TO TABLE

One of the highlights of the week will be our private cooking experience.

We'll visit a beautiful organic gourmet garden overlooking Mount Agung and the surrounding rice paddies, where we'll explore the gardens with our chef and gather fresh ingredients.

Then we'll head into the kitchen for a hands-on cooking class, learning some of the techniques, ingredients, and flavors that make Balinese cuisine so distinctive.

And, naturally, we'll sit down together afterward to enjoy what we've created.

It's the kind of experience that stays with you long after you leave — and gives you a few new ideas for bringing the flavors of Bali home.

EAT WELL. EAT LOCALLY. EAT TOGETHER.

In keeping with the yogic tradition at the heart of Eat Pray Move, the majority of our retreat meals are vegetarian. This allows us to honor the lineage from which our practice comes while also making thoughtful choices about the way we travel and the footprint we leave behind.

We know not everyone is vegetarian, and we ask our guests to embrace this philosophy for the few days we are together.

Breakfast is more flexible, with a variety of options available, including meat and fish. At certain coastal meals, seafood options may also be available, and when we dine independently, you'll be free to choose from the menu.

Special dietary requirements and allergies can be accommodated with advance notice.

Most importantly, come hungry.

Bali is waiting to feed you.

ACTIVITIES

DISCOVER BALI

This retreat is designed to take you beyond the hotel and into the places, traditions, landscapes, and people that make Bali so extraordinary.

There will be plenty of time to enjoy our beautiful surroundings — from lounging beside the pool to wandering through tropical gardens and simply having nowhere to be. But we'll also venture out on a series of thoughtfully curated experiences that reveal very different sides of the island.

RITUAL + TRADITION

We'll experience a traditional Balinese healing and fire ceremony, led by a Balinese priest. This is an opportunity to step into the spiritual traditions of the island and experience a ritual that has been passed down through generations.

FROM GARDEN TO TABLE

We'll visit an organic gourmet garden with spectacular views toward Mount Agung and the surrounding rice fields, where we'll gather fresh ingredients before taking part in a hands-on Balinese cooking class with our chef.

BY BOAT + SEA

We'll explore Bali's eastern coastline aboard a traditional jukung boat, traveling to a secluded beach where we'll have time to swim, relax, and enjoy a beautiful lunch surrounded by nature.

THROUGH THE RICE FIELDS

One morning, we'll leave the roads behind and take a guided walk through Bali's iconic rice paddies.

With the cool morning air, lush green fields, local villages, and sounds of the countryside around us, it's a chance to experience a quieter, more intimate side of Bali.

TWO SIDES OF THE ISLAND

One of the special things about this retreat is the opportunity to experience Bali's contrasts.

We'll spend time beside the sea, surrounded by coconut palms and the rhythms of the coast, before heading inland into the rainforest and lush foothills around Ubud.

Along the way, we'll discover Bali through its food, rituals, landscapes, and people — with plenty of time in between to swim, rest, receive a treatment, practice yoga, or simply enjoy the magic of being somewhere completely different.

Come curious. Come open. Come ready to experience Bali beyond the postcard.

GIVE BACK

TRAVEL WITH PURPOSE

Travel is more meaningful when it gives something back to the places we visit.

Through the Eat Pray Move Give Back initiative, we donate a percentage of retreat profits to various humanitarian partners around the globe.

Our Balinese partner is Bebali Foundation, an Indonesian nonprofit that works alongside Threads of Life on 12 islands and with 1200 weavers. Both organizations share a mission of supporting women, building livelihoods, revitalizing traditions, and conserving dye plant ecologies.

So while you're having an extraordinary week, your trip is also contributing to something beyond yourself.

WELLNESS

MOVE. BREATHE. RECEIVE.

Yoga is at the heart of every Eat Pray Move retreat, but in Bali, our practice becomes part of something much larger.

Each day, we'll make time for yoga and meditation, creating a rhythm that balances movement with stillness, energy with restoration, and exploration with reflection.

Classes are open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners, and may range from gentle and restorative practices to more dynamic Vinyasa Flow.

With our intimate group size, practices can be adapted to the people in the room — offering plenty of space for personal attention and the freedom to explore your practice at your own pace.

Depending on the location and weather, we'll practice in dedicated yoga spaces or take our mats outside into Bali's extraordinary natural surroundings.

BEYOND THE MAT

Each day will also include another opportunity to slow down and connect — perhaps a second movement practice, meditation, a guided meditation walk, or one of the special Balinese ceremonies and blessings woven throughout the retreat.

Together, these experiences are designed to nourish more than just the physical body.

The body gets to move.
The mind gets to quiet.
The spirit gets to receive.

And with Bali as our backdrop, there is no shortage of inspiration.

MEET YOUR RETREAT LEADER

AMY COMMANDER

Amy discovered yoga in 2003 after a knee injury from long-distance running. What began as a way to get back to running soon became something much deeper — a more sustainable way to explore movement, mindfulness, and wellbeing.

In 2008, she opened her first yoga studio, which she successfully ran for more than 12 years. With over 14 years of teaching experience, Amy brings a warm, intuitive approach to her classes and a genuine ability to meet people wherever they are in their practice.

But yoga is only one part of Amy's work.

She is also a Reiki Master, intuitive, oracle and tarot reader, astrologer, and certified holistic nutrition counselor. After losing a close friend to cancer in 2020, Amy deepened her studies in nutrition and graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

Today, she is the owner of The Studio in St. Augustine, Florida, and founder of Yogi Bites, combining her love of yoga, nourishment, and holistic wellbeing. For this Bali retreat, Amy brings together all of these threads — movement, intuition, nourishment, ritual, and connection — creating a practice that is as much about how you feel as it is about what you can do.

Come ready to move.

Come ready to breathe.

And come ready to experience a little Bali magic along the way.

COME WITH AN OPEN HEART

This is not a retreat about checking things off a list.

It’s about giving yourself enough space to slow down, reconnect, and truly experience Bali.

To wake to the sound of the ocean.

To breathe in the misty morning air.

To move your body beneath the palms.

To wander through emerald-green rice fields.

To swim in warm tropical waters.

To share food around a table with people you met only days before.

To sit quietly during a Balinese ceremony.

To learn something new.

To let someone else take care of you for a few days.

And perhaps to return home feeling a little more grounded, nourished, open, and connected than when you arrived.

Bali has a way of reminding you to slow down and listen.
